The Handshake AI Fellowship referral program rewards current Handshake AI contractors who refer new eligible candidates to join Handshake AI. By participating, you agree to the following terms and conditions:

1. Referrer Eligibility.  Only contractors who hold an active Handshake AI account at the time of the referral and at the time any referral bonus is paid (“Referrers”) are eligible to refer others and receive referral bonuses. 
2. Qualified Referral.  To be a qualified referral (“Qualified Referral”), the referred contractor must: 
   • Be new to the Handshake AI platform (i.e. no prior account or participation);
   • Create a Handshake AI account using the Referrer’s unique referral link; 
   • Successfully complete the Handshake AI onboarding process; 
   • Complete project-specific onboarding for any project on the Handshake AI platform; and 
   • Complete a minimum of 10 hours of paid production work on any project within 6 months of account creation.
3. Referral Process.  Each Referrer has a unique referral link which can be accessed from the “Referral” tab in their Handshake AI dashboard. If a referred contractor creates an account without using a referral link, it is not a Qualified Referral. Referred contractors may be onboarded onto any project on the Handshake AI platform. Project placement is based on contractor qualifications and project availability, at Handshake’s discretion. Handshake does not guarantee project placement, and the inability to place a referred contractor on a project does not extend or reset the 6-month referral window.
4. Referral Bonuses.  
   • Referral Bonus Rate. The referral bonus rate is 10% of the referred contractor’s hourly rate on their first accepted project (the “Referral Bonus Rate”). For pay-by-task projects, the Referral Bonus Rate is 10% of the published approximate hourly rate for that project, as determined by Handshake. The Referral Bonus Rate is fixed at the time the referred contractor is placed on their first project and does not change if the referred contractor later changes projects or joins additional projects.
   • Earning a Referral Bonus. For each hour of paid production work completed by the referred contractor, the Referrer earns a referral bonus at the Referral Bonus Rate (the “Referral Bonus”). Referral bonuses begin to be paid out once the referred contractor has completed a minimum of 10 hours of paid production work. Bonuses continue to be earned until the Referrer reaches the Maximum Referral Bonus or 6 months have passed since the referred Fellow’s account creation date, whichever comes first.
   • Maximum Referral Bonus. The maximum total Referral Bonus per Qualified Referral is 40 times the Referral Bonus Rate (the “Maximum Referral Bonus”).
   • Paid Production Work. “Paid production work” means hours or tasks that have been approved and paid by Handshake. Work that has been submitted but not yet approved, or that is later reversed or disputed, is not an earned referral bonus.
5. Referral Expiration. Referrals expire 6 months from the date the referred contractor created their Handshake AI account. Referrals that have not resulted in a Qualified Referral within this period are not eligible for a bonus. The expiration window is not reset or extended under any circumstances.
6. Bonus Payment.  All referral bonuses are paid via the Referrer’s payment method on the Handshake AI platform. Handshake will issue accrued referral bonuses weekly. Handshake reserves the right to withhold or delay referral bonuses in cases of suspected fraud, referral gaming, or a violation of these terms and conditions. Payment delays may occur. Referral bonuses are subject to applicable taxes and reporting requirements.
7.  Other Terms. Handshake reserves the right to modify, pause, or terminate the Referral Program at any time without prior notice.
