Time tracking for Handshake AI Fellowship projects
To ensure accurate time tracking, we use an automated time tracking system directly within our annotation platform—no manual submissions! You can work on tasks at your own pace, even over multiple days, as long as you stay within the time cap and meet project goals.
If your project is hosted on the AI labs’s platform, you’ll report your hours using either Hubstaff or a Google Form. Your project lead will provide detailed instructions, and our team will handle the processing of your reported time.
Important Timer Information:
- Your Responsibility: You are responsible for accurately managing and reporting your work time with this timer. Start, pause, and track your time.
- Taking Breaks: Remember to pause the time whenever you need to step away from the task.
- Timer Persistence: An unpaused timer continues running even when the browser tab is closed or you navigate away.
- Time Calculation: Your task time is calculated based on active periods when the timer is running.
-
Time Limit: Stay within the time cap assigned for your task. Anything beyond the limit won't be paid.
Starting your timer
When you begin a new task, a confirmation window will explain how the timer works. To start tracking time, click the Start Timer button.
Pausing your timer
Your timer is located at the top-center of the screen and displays your time spent compared to your task’s time limit. To pause the timer, click the pause icon.
Submitting a task
When you submit a task, the timer will automatically stop, and a confirmation pop-up will display the total time you spent on the task. You’ll also have access to how much time remains before reaching your cap, along with a breakdown of active vs. inactive time.
Time caps are based on analysis of similar tasks and reflect the average time needed to complete them. They help ensure efficiency and fairness across all Fellows. If you reach the time cap, you’ll still need to submit the task for review. Any required revisions after the cap must also be resubmitted.
You'll have the opportunity to review this for accuracy. If something looks off or is incorrect, click the blue Edit time link to make adjustments.
Adjust your time spent
In the pop-up, your session time is automatically recorded. If needed, update the hours, minutes, or seconds to reflect the correct time for your pay. Then click Update to save the changes or Cancel to discard them.
Once you've made your changes, the updated time will be applied and ready for you to submit your task.
Note: There may occasionally be discrepancies between what you see in the platform, our communications, and your payments dashboard, due to processing delays. If you ever have questions or concerns about your logged time or compensation, don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re happy to help clarify or resolve any issues
